Getting out the stock and finishing other jobs.
Some
time ago I bought three Butts of Oak which I had sawn through and
through and then air dried them to use for boat building.
With the saw working I got out more stock for the laminates.
After gluing up I thicknessed them and then put a round over on them with a router.
In the mean time I did some more work on a new dinghy fitting knees and gunwales.

Fixing the electric motor.
Have been ripping up oak to laminate the frames and that was going well
till the table saw stalled and then refused to start! Was afraid I might
have burnt it out as I was working it quite hard.
Took off the two ends to inspect the windings.
Took off the two ends to inspect the windings.
They looked fine and read ok on the metre.
.
Had already tested the capacitor and although the reading was not quite
what I had expected it was good enough for it to start so the only thing
I could think was that the centrifugal switch was at fault.
The metre gave an intermittent reading so I cleaned the points but the
reading did not improve until I bent the actuating arms to allow the
springs to close the points firmly.
With the motor back together it started up cleanly and without hesitation!
Back in business!
